Our Projects
Renewed Hope Charitable Foundation partners with Heather Chimhoga Orphan Care (HCOC) and the local community in Ward 1, Murewa District, Mashonaland East Province, Zimbabwe to care for 673 orphaned and vulnerable children. The care provided to the children by HCOC includes receiving a meal at one of the 3 feeding centers adjacent to the schools, paying school fees, and paying the salaries for the boots-on-the ground HCOC team. These children’s lives have been changed from one of desperation to one of hope.
Moringa Project
Moringa, a plant native to Zimbabwe, is highly nutritious. It contains proteins, vitamins, and minerals, making it useful to fight malnutrition. Moringa is grown at HCOC and is used in the feeding centers to supplement the feeding program for the nearly 700 orphans who eat in one of the three feeding centers. With support from RHCF, HCOC pays the salaries of the individuals who are employed in the moringa project. In a country with such high unemployment, these individuals not only contribute to the nutritional well-being of the orphans they also receive a salary that will allow them to contribute back to their community.

Education
In Zimbabwe, there is a requirement that students pay school fees before they can attend school. For many orphaned children, this is an impossible obligation. At HCOC, school fees are paid for the orphans. This allows them to attend school and receive daily meals while minimizing the financial burden on the family or community members they are living with. Furthermore, RHCF has supported boarding school and university tuition paid for promising students. Generous donations from RHCF have given hope to those students who would otherwise have no hope for a higher level education and a better life. At HCOC, school fees are paid along with school uniforms being provided to all the orphans.
Self Sustaining Projects
The Moringa Project has been constructed in such a way as to not only provide moringa to the children served by HCOC, but as the economy allows, to be sold in local markets for profit.
In 2025, there are plans underway for HCOC to dry fruits and vegetables to be used in the HCOC feeding center and also sold in local markets for profit. RHCF provided support for HCOC to purchase their first solar green house.

Child Headed Households
In Zimbabwe, there are many compelling stories to be told. One of the most heart breaking stories is about the children living in Zimbabwe who represent child-headed-households (CHH). These children live alone without adult supervision. If an adult is present in their home, that adult is not able to care for the children and instead is cared for by the children. These children are lovingly cared for by HCOC. HCOC has organized volunteers called orphan caregivers who look after these children. These women are chosen by their villages and they consider it an honor to volunteer their time to care for the orphans.
RHCF has been able to assist the orphan caregivers by providing support to HCOC so that food supplies can be provided to them. In addition, RHCF provides financial support so that the dwellings of CHH can be improved and in some instances constructed for the most vulnerable children.
